Paul Ryan stance on Birth Control

The current Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives is Paul Ryan, a Republican from Wisconsin. He gained his power from his predecessor, former Speaker John Boehner, after the Ohio Republican shocked the political world by deciding to vacate his position. Shortly after Paul Ryan accepted his bid as Speaker of the House, he took a large stance against Planned Parenthood in his recent interview with Dana Bash. He said "Planned Parenthood shouldn't get a red cent from taxpayers". Recently, there were videos released where Planned Parenthood was selling tissue and organs from aborted fetuses. This was not only revolting to the public but prompted many anti-abortion taxpayers and activists to act out even more than before. Paul Ryan says these videos were "disgusting" and says that he has "always believed" that they should get no funding from taxpayers. However, he's staying in check with his position saying, "But I believe we need to do our oversight. We're just beginning to start a committee to investigate Planned Parenthood. That's important. So the special committee on Planned Parenthood, I think, should be in the driver's seat overseeing this process." He goes on to be realistic about the future. He is fighting the same battle Boehner was fighting and he says "we have to push issues where we can push issues, we have to speak truth to power. We have a president that isn't willing to listen, that isn't going to sign lots of our bills into law, we have a Senate that has a very difficult process when it comes to actually getting bills voted on, so knowing that we have those constraints, we have to operate within those constraints." Ryan wants to defund Planned Parenthood, but it doesn't matter. I don't think that anything will change unless the committee assigned to the issue can really prove that it is wrong. It is going to be really hard to change something like this that gets so much federal funding. I believe that it is something that should happen immediately but I realize that nothing in our government moves that fast.
